Frequently Asked Questions

In our goal to provide a superior service, we are proud to help you keep your computers working at their optimum level.

My computer is taking longer to open programs or files.

Computers can slow down for several reasons which one can be corrected by you.  It is not uncommom for any computer to slow down if you add or remove programs or files.  When you add or remove files it causes the information stored on the hard drive to become what is called fragmented.  This means that files or programs stored  on the hard drive are spread all over the drive.  You can correct the problem by using the defragmentation tool located in Windows.  Depending on which Windows operating system you are using,  they all have the defragmentation tool.  If this does not correct the problem then you may have a more severe problem that may require a computer technician.

Windows XP

Go to my computer and right mouse click on the hard drive.  Choose the properties button.  Now you can select the tools tab.  The defragmentation tool should now be visable.  After opening the defragmentation tool you can select the analize button to determine the extent of the drive fragmentation.  We highly reccomend you use the tool if needed.  This can restore the access speed your computer once new.

Windows 98

Go to start then programs.  Now go to accessories and then system tools.  Once in the system tools you can use the defragmentation tool.  The tool will tell you if you need to defragmentation tool.  Again we suggest using the tool is the program suggests.

My computer is making a noise, is this a problem?

When a computer starts making new noises you should be concerned.  Noises are usally caused by fans located in the compter.  If unchecked the fan can caused the computers CPU to overheat.  Overheating can cause the computer to slow down or freeze up.  Your computer is in need of service.  Failure to have your computer serviced can cause permanent damage and expensive service fees.

Do I really need an anti-virus program for my computer,  I only go on the internet once in a while?  If I do need an anti-virus program which one whould I choose?

Unless you never connect to the internet or install programs to your computer, you should have a good anti-virus program.  Not everyone needs the same anti-virus program.  As to which one to choose, what I can suggest is first do your homework as to what your needs are.   There are several free programs that will work well with the part time or ocasional computer user.  For those who require more computer time and deal with email on a daily basis, then you should use an anti-virus program designed for the use.  My personal favorite after using most of the major commercial products is AVG.  This product for the money in my mind is unsurpassed.  For just $33.00 you receive the product and 2 years of updates.  You can see why the price is right.
